I have read your comment and I understand where you are coming from. If it's appropriate to defend myself in this case, I didn't take gender into consideration when replying. From the comment in question, you can't tell the writer's gender.
I very much welcome criticism of my work, that is how I become better and learn new things. But the statement "you and all the men like you are morally bankrupt" is not a criticism of my work or ideas, it's a criticism of my person. There are many ways to tell me that my ideas need to be improved or are outright wrong. Calling me morally bankrupt is not one of them. It shifts the discussion from a civil one to an ad hominem attack.
However, I could have politely made my point instead of including the 'culture wars' comment. Even if I think that this is the stuff of culture wars, what good does fighting anger with anger do?--not much.
